Congestive heart failure in dogs – causes
Congestive heart failure in dogs is the inability of the heart to pump blood adequately to the rest of the body. Thus, blood accumulates in the lungs, and fluid accumulates in the body cavities (chest, abdomen or both). This disease affects the lungs and the heart, as it prevents the flow of enough oxygen throughout the body.
The causes of congestive heart failure in dogs can be:
– Inactive thyroid
– Parasitic infection (heartworm infection)
– Hyperactive thyroid
– Left ventricular tumours
– Aortic artery narrowing
– Restrictive heart disease
– Heart rhythm disturbances
– Pulmonary blood clot
– Abnormal hole in the wall that separates the ventricle
Among the most common symptoms of congestive heart failure in dogs are:
– Respiratory disorders
– Lack of appetite
– Cold ears and paws
– Lethargic condition
– Accumulation of fluid in the abdomen, chest, legs
If you notice these symptoms in your dog, you should see a veterinarian immediately. It is the only one that can determine if your pet suffers from congestive heart failure.
Treatment recommended by Biotur
Biotur provides veterinary clinics and pharmacies with a premium product recommended for treating congestive heart failure in dogs.
Most veterinary clinics use Cardisure due to its exceptional results. They are round, light brown tablets with marking lines on one side and smooth lines on the other.
The product should only be used for dogs suffering from heart failure. In case of side effects, seek medical advice immediately.
The tablets should be taken orally in a dose range of 0.2 mg to 0.6 mg pimobendan/kg body weight per day. The preferred daily dose is 0.5 mg pimobendan/kg body weight. The amount should be divided into two administrations (0.25 mg/kg body weight each), one-half dose in the morning and the other half in the evening, about 12 hours later. Each dose should be given about one hour before feeding.
The product can be combined with a diuretic treatment, such as furosemide.
To break a single tablet with marking lines in two halves, place the tablet on a flat surface with the marking lines facing up. Hold one half of the tablet and press down the other half.
Biotur is a distributor of PET, VET and DDD products. Our customers are satisfied with the proven promptness, the variety of products and their quality.
