Biotur –Veterinary industry in Romania
Like humans, animals face lifelong health problems. This is the main reason why they need help and assistance. The veterinary industry is responsible for caring for the needs of animals and is a growing industry.
The veterinary industry can be classified into two parts: the pet segment and the production segment. Each animal is different and needs personalized treatment.
According to recent studies, Romania sells food for dogs and cats for around EUR 400 million. A high percentage of these sales come from the online environment. As a result, the pet industry has become one of the most important segments of the online market.
In 2020, the pet care sector reached double-digit growth as a result of economic development. Romanians have begun to consider their pets as family members, which leads to a diversification of pet care products.
Moreover, “75-80% of the pet industry is characterized by the sale of products for dogs and cats”. Romania has approximately “1.5 million dogs in urban areas, and one in four families owns a dog.”
