Cestal Plus – Internal Antiparasitic for Dogs
Cestal Plus is an internal antiparasitic recommended for the treatment of tapeworm and roundworm infestations.
Dogs are animals that sniff, lick and snout around, and in this way, they can become infected with all kinds of parasites (worms). Dogs are ideal hosts for parasites. If your dog has diarrhea, vomiting, coughing, licking or crawling, or is weak, it is a clear sign of a parasitic infection. Since many of these worms can be transmitted from dogs to humans, we will explain how to do internal dog deworming and outline what these worms mean.
Biotur provides legal entities with Cestal Plus, the internal antiparasitic specially destined for dogs.
Cestal Plus – internal antiparasitic medicine
If the animal shows symptoms of infestation with worms and other parasites, it is important to administer antiparasitic treatment as early as possible in order to prevent complications that may occur with this infestation.
The medicine comes in the form of chewable tablets and the active substances are Praziquantel, Pirantel embonate, and Fenbendazole. These substances are proven to act especially on tapeworms and roundworms.
How are worms transmitted in dogs?
Dogs can become infected in a variety of ways, and worm infections usually occur by ingesting parasite eggs or spores from contaminated water, soil, or feces. Tapeworms, for example, are transmitted by ingesting infected fleas, which are hosts for this type of parasite. In chickens, the infection can originate from the mother, from inside the womb, or through breastfeeding.
Symptoms of worm infestation in dogs
To identify if your pet is infested with worms, there are a number of symptoms that the owner may notice, namely:
- Weight loss
- Behavioral changes
- Diarrhoea
- Vomiting
- Fur degradation
- Reduced general stamina
- Blood in stool
- Cough
- Tense abdomen
The above are the main symptoms that your dog may show in case of worm infestation, and these should not be ignored.
Cestal Plus – how to take it
Tablets are given directly or incorporated into the dog’s food, without the need for a special diet.
For general deworming, one treatment is sufficient, but in case of massive infestation, it is recommended to repeat the dose after 14 days.
Due to the risk of re-infestation, treatment should be repeated every 3 months.
To ensure the correct dose, the body weight of the animals should be determined as accurately as possible.
Cestal Plus – contraindications
Pyrantel-based products should be administered with caution in cachectic animals. Not to be used in case of hypersensitivity to the active substances or to any of the excipients.
